Physical and mechanical properties of the modern composite resins have improved but still the polymerization shrinkage limits the longevity of direct restorations mainly in extensive posterior restorations. Indirect technique allows a better proximal contour, better occlusal morphology and marginal adaptation where polymerization shrinkage is better controlled.
